KCnetwork was formed in June 2010 to supply internet services to an area around Saddlebag L:ake Resort after our previous supplier went out of business. We have built a World Class internet system and are presently supplying internet services second to none.

We supplied internet service during the 2010-2011 season from a temporary 6Mb feed while our permanent Gigabit Fiber Feed was being installed. On October 1, 2011 KCnetwork began serving customers in Saddlebag Lake Resort and surrounding communities from a Century Link Fiber gigabit internet feed. Then on December 4, 2014 we upgraded the system and changed suppliers to Level 3 Communications who is the largest internet supplier on the planet.

One of the major reasons the previous Internet supplier to Saddlebag failed was that there was a large amount of illegal internet sharing. This deprived them of the cash flow necessary to sustain operations and it placed a huge load on the system caused by users who were too far away from an antenna to maintain a quality connection. One of these "sharing users" from next door or across the street can cause a greater load on the system than dozens or even hundreds of legal properly installed users. To help prevent this problem from degrading Service Quality for KCnetwork Customers we have implemented a simple Terms of Use Agreement which every KCnetwork Customer automatically accepts as a condition of service.

Terms of Use Agreement between KCNetwork (a subsidiary of KioskCenters LLC) and   Unknown   Unknown.

Whereas KCNetwork desires to provide High Speed Internet services and the Signee desires to purchase such services, the parties hereby agree to some simple guidelines to help promote an excellent internet experience for all customers.

This account holder/Signee agrees to use the Internet Access provided under this agreement for his/her own use as well as guests or employees in the home or business address which is listed as   Unknown   Unknown. If a WiFi router is used, the Signee agrees to encrypt this router in such a manner that outsiders cannot access the signals radiated from the router and agrees NOT to give the passcode to this router to any third party and agrees to report any knowledge they have of third parties using their router's signal. This does not include family or guests or employees who are visiting your property. They are specifically exempted and may use the internet access as your guests (as long as they are in your home or business). KCnetwork reserve the right to terminate the service of any resident who is found to be violating this requirement.

Both parties want our internet system to perform as well as possible. To this end, KCNetwork has purchased a 1,000 mb capable fiber optic internet feed. We will continue to upgrade the speed of this service as load demands. We are committed to providing the best internet access available in central Florida.

However, there are things users can do to destroy the fine user experience we are trying to make available. One of these is the use of peer-to-peer torrents such as Lime Wire or Vuze which will install a file sharing server on your computer and share music or video downloads on your computer with other users throughout the world. We believe we have effectively solved this problem by moving to a total usage tiered pricing system. In our 2014-2015 pricing plan users will be able to subscribe to the amount of broadband capacity they need. If they choose to allow remote users to download content that will increase their usage charge they can. But their internet bill will reflect this cost and we will expect them to pay for their usage. However, if we determine that a user is somehow using our system in a manner that is harmful to other users we reserve the right to request that such practices be terminated and if that fails to solve the problem we reserve the right to terminate service.

The FCC has mandated that all "home internet routers" be operated on Wi-Fi channel 1. We require that all users comply with this ruling in that it was designed to promote the type of distribution system which we use. The Signee hereby agrees that any routers operated on your premises will be operated on channel one. And that NO Open (Guest)or unencrypted router channels will be supported to allow remote unauthorized access to the system.

Stealing of internet services has been a problem in the past. During the 2014-2015 season there were only a handful of customers who violated the above restrictions against "internet sharing". Sadly, we had to shut off a few users for violating the Terms of Usage Agreement. The major cause was internet sharing or sending unsolicited emails. We have purchased sophisticated internet appliance equipment that maintains a legally defensible log of all such activity. This agreement shall also serve as notice that all such activity will not be tolerated in the future. Civil complaints and Criminal charges will be filed as necessary to stop this practice and to turn every user into a person who is paying his or her fair share of the cost of maintaining this world class internet system for the benefit of all of our customers. As a condition of service all customers are required to Accept our Terms of Use Agreement. KCnetwork reserves the right to deny service to previous customers who are known abusers of this policy.

KCNetwork reserves the right to employ traffic shaping methods to limit the bandwidth available to applications that are found to degrade the performance of the system as a means of protecting the rights of the other users.

All traffic to and from your computer will be measured and charged to your specific usage account and compared to your accounts usage cap (hereafter called the CAP). The CAP shall be measured in gigabytes as the sum of ethernet traffic IN and OUT of your antenna excluding traffic from KCnetwork supplied VOIP phones or streamed television products.

Our fiber internet system is designed to permit the operation of some address specific computer programs and will support communications programs such as Skype audio, Skype video, Magicjack, etc. But, our VOIP phone systems will continue to be programmed to have absolute highest access to all system resources. Other VOIP products such as Vonage, Voipo, Google Voice, and Magicjack will not be blocked in any way and should operate well. However, they will compete for system resources as ordinary internet traffic and will have no higher or lower priority than anyone else except our VOIP phones which, again, will receive priority #1. We have set aside a portion of our fiber feed to support 2000 simultaneous KCnet VOIP phone calls at the same time. If you have a third party VOIP product, and have a problem, please contact us. We will exert a reasonable effort to try to solve any problems you may have with this equipment. But, we do not guarantee any level of operation of any Voice Over IP telephone product except our own. Our VOIP phones are for your own use not to be shared with the neighbors. VOIP traffic used by our VOIP phones is NOT charged to your internet usage CAP. Streamed audio usage from other sources such as Skype, Magicjack, Voipo, Vonage, Great Call etc are all treated as regular internet traffic and as such are charged to your usage CAP but should be of no serious impact on the monthly CAP.

You might want to ask yourself why you should want to have a usage CAP. In fact some novice suppliers have actually proposed having no CAP. We have always had a CAP but have tried to keep it above what most people were using. In 2012 we installed service at a local RV park who "gave" it to their residents. One individual was using over 2500 GBytes per month by having 3 TV sets recording all programs 24 hours per day. This is probably the best definition of Bandwidth Hog, we can think of. This person took a huge chunk of available capacity away from everyone else. Having a CAP allowed us to contact the individual, explain that if he really wanted to record 2500 Gbytes of data a month he could, but the overage charge was going to be $2450.00. Obviously, he chose to only watch TV programs he wanted to watch and his usage dropped to 34 GB the next month. So think of our CAP as a tool for us to use to protect you from Bandwidth Hogs. If you have service from someone without a CAP, what are they going to do for their second customer. If a supplier has too low of a CAP like 10Gbytes a month, you need to ask if you can do all that you want within that limit. And, you can ask if the overage fee is fair. Our $1/Gigabyte overage fee is the lowest in the industry.

For the 2014-2015 season we have decided to make several changes all designed to simplify the accounting and to save time which we no longer have.

As in 2011,2012,2013 and 2014 we offer two classes of Internet service.
  1. Our Traditional Internet service plan is designed to fulfill all of the needs of the normal internet user, software updates, email, web surfing, Facebook, Skype. The "Traditional Internet" plan is intended to provide a great internet experience for all users consuming less than 30 gigabytes of data per month.
      The pricing structure of the Traditional Internet package with a 50 Gigabyte/month CAP is:
    1. $50.00 / month for 1 to 12 months service per season
    2. as an added reward if you pay for 12 months service in advance we will give the 12th month of service for free

  2. After a customer has exceeded his/her 50 Gb/month CAP, additional capacity will be invoiced at $1.00 / per gigabyte per month. Be cautious of suppliers who advertise unlimited usage for a flat rate. What are they going to do when they get their 2nd customer? And the first ine is using all of their capacity. They either suppliers must throttle the speed that is available to a user or charge for usage above a specific level. Our model gives enough capacity to support most of our users, AND allows bandwith hogs to get as much capacity as they want and puts the cost burden where it belongs.

    Our internet accounting server will monitor your account status, grant access under the existing CAP or will redirect you to an account management page where you can upgrade to a higher service CAP. Are your grandchildren coming for the holidays and might want to watch Winnie the Pooh 127 times? Not to worry, You will just be charged for the extra bandwidth for the months it was used.

  3. We invite everyone to compare our internet rates to those of ATT and Verizon. We thought it would be helpful to compare our over CAP rate of $1/gigabyte/month to those of the other suppliers.

All customers should be advised that while we are planning to give every user at least 5mb average speed, that there may be times when total system load or total tower load will make this impossible. Our change to bandwidth caps is in accordance with an industry wide move to counter the huge challenge of high video streaming demand. All customers should recognize that while there may be times when an individual may get less than 5mb, we plan to make up for this by giving far more than 5mb most of the time.

The implication of bandwidth caps, will be a learning process. Any traffic you get will be measured. Think of that when you run a speed test which transfers a huge amount of data often over 100 MB. Ten speed tests and you have used a gigabyte and only have 9 left. Use your capacity wisely and you will have plenty. Avoid bit torrent programs which permit a stranger (often in eastern Europe) to have access to files on your computer. And your account is charged for all of his/her data transfers.

We continue to offer our VOIP telephone service as in the past for a flat rate of $15.00 for each month that the phone is turned on. The new expanded fiber system should make Voip phone calls better than ever. Sadly we must add a new term to our standard Terms of Use. Voip phones are for the user's own personal use. They are not to be "put on the back porch for the neighbors to use". While our $15.00 per month rate does and will continue to provide unlimited local and long distance calling to the US and Canada. We will allow other international calling but must limit the amount of free international calling to 100 minutes per month. International calls over 100 minutes will be billed at the same rate as we pay from a table that is shown at the bottom of this page. This will eliminate several situations where we paid from $150 to as much as $328 per month for international calls to Asia or Europe (some as long as 8 hours) for customers who were paying us $15.00. By making this change VOIP phone costs will remain unchanged for 96% of our customers while the other 4% will continue to get great value but will have to pay for excess international calls. Again, Canadian calls are treated just like US calls and are unlimited and free.

New Product Protection Plan:
One new option we have added for the 2014-2016 seasons is the $5.00 /per month optional Product Protection Plan. Over the last three years we have absorbed the cost of replacing antennas that have been damaged by lightning storms. We have decided to fund the cost of these replacement costs by offering all customers a $5.00 per month Production Plan. If you purchase this plan prior to a lightning event, we will replace your antenna without charge for the antenna or labor (a $135 value). If you have elected not to purchase the product replacement plan and an antenna is distroyed, then the replacemnet cost will bt invoiced to you.

Loaner Antennas:
We are going to continue to offer a "loaner antenna" program on a limited basis. This past year meany people returned their antennas and asked that they be stored until the fall when they will be back. We simply do not have the time or space to process the deposits, install the equipment, then remove it, process the refurds, then store the equipment until next year, just to go through the process again. We are encouraging anyone who can to buy the equipment, ask your landloard to buy it if possible to eliminate the need for many of these "loaners". Where absolutly necessary we will loan the equipmenet as in the past

Antenna Installation:
How do we recommend that a new antenna be installed?

If the home is very close to one of our towers, the new antenna can be installed inside the home with no additional wiring, grounding, or lightning concerns. The cost of this type of installation is simply the $125.00 cost of the antenna and labor.
But for most users, the distance from your home to the nearest antenna is too far to allow inside installation. Therefore, we install the antenna outside, point it to the nearest tower and run Outdoor Rated (UV rated) Shielded Cat5e cable. Where the antennas need to be mounted high and are subject to lightning strikes, we drive two 8 foot ground rods (end-to-end) so the rod is 16 feet long and usually protrudes into the water table for an excellent quality ground. Then we install a Cat-5 cable lightning surge protector near where the shielded cable enters the home. This provides the best possible protection against a nearby lightning hit. Nothing will protect your antenna from a direct hit by lightning, but those odds are very low. This is exactly how we have wired all of our towers and we have received absolutely no damage to any of our equipment during the particularly violent Summer 2010, 2011 , 2012 and 2013 storm season. The total cost of a new install with the antenna,dielded cable, ground rods, lightning protector, and installation labor is $350.00and will need to be deermined on a case by case basis. You will know what the cost is going to be before the install is started.

Since many of our customers are seasonal, we are trying to plan ahead as much as possible. If you are a returning customer who had our service last year, all you need to do is send us an email and give us the approximate date of your return. If you would like us to visit your home prior to your return and verify that your internet system is operational we will be glad to do this if we know who has the key to your property and have your permission to enter the home. We need to advise last year's customers that this has been a particularly violent summer season for thunderstorms. If you did not unplug your internet equipment and/or did not have a battery backup power supply, there may have been damage done to some or all of your equipment. So it is very wise to have us check things out before you return. We will not do any work that incur any expense on your part until we have spoken with you to advise of any problems that have been found.

Home Owners who Rent their Property: We have been contacted by many home owners who have our antennas installed for the use of thier renters and have heard countless stories of how potential renters told them they would have gone elsewhere if internet had not been available.

CHUG ROOM Free Service: Sadly, since CHUG gave the CHUG Room back to the Resort for other use, we had to remove the free hotspot from the CHUG room in the Annex.The Clubhouse Chug Members Only hotsdpot is still operational.
