Sickness & Distress:
Dan Adkins is still in the Dove nursing home for rehab. He had a CAT scan done and was told he had another tumor in the same lung that a tumor was removed from previously.
It is not known what the next action will be, but Dan wants to go home. The doctor told Betty that if the family could find a nursing home for him in or near Sydney, Ohio where they live, that when Dan is strong enough arrangements could be made to transfer him from the Dove directly to a nursing home there. Cards may still be sent to the local address in the directory.
Bob Ashley had surgery last Monday following his fall off a ladder. He has a 9" rod from his shoulder ball to 2-3 inches from his elbow. He also broke his leg below the knee. He is in a soft cast from the ankle to above the kneecap that will be in place for four weeks. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.
Jack and Rita Ashley's daughter, Sister Marie Catherine, had surgery last week. The tumors removed were benign. She is back at the convent and doing OK.
Jo Dowler developed a staph infection following her colon surgery. She had surgery last Saturday to drain the infection. Cards may be sent to the local address in the directory.
Clem Dowler was admitted to the hospital with a head injury. He came home Friday and was taken back to the hospital Saturday with a possible stroke. Prayers, cards and/or phone calls to this family would be most welcome.
Lloyd Akiens can put some weight on his leg now, however he will have more xrays Tuesday to determine if there is a broken bone in his ankle or leg. This couldn't be done before because of the swelling. His arm is in a sling to restrict movement amd protect the broken collar bone. Linda says he's in good spirits and, for the most part, is a good patient. Cards and/or visits are welcome.
Jeanette Montross is scheduled to have a CAT scan on Friday, May 12th in Hamilton, Ontario. Daniel will keep us informed of the next steps. Cards may be sent to the Canadian address in the directory. (Postage is $.63)
Margaret Dillon is having more surgery on her eye this Wednesday. Cards may be sent to the local address in the directory.
Janice Todosciuk had a set back when blood clots developed in the shunt that was to drain fluid from her brain. This caused fluid to back up into the brain. She had surgery to clean out the shunt. The following day it was discovered that there was intra-cranial bleeding surgery was performed immediately. Janice is coming along OK and is even walking a bit. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.

Bill Conway is still in the hospital. Hopefully he will come soon. Cards to Bill would be appreciated.
Last week, Jeff Katenkamp, Jack and Jane's son, was at a critical point in his battle with multiple myeloma. On May 1st Jeff's doctors doctor told him that tests whowed no cancer in his body. Jack and Jane wish to thank Saddlebaggers for the many prayers sent for Jeff. Never underestimate the power of prayer, as the family believes that Jeff's recovery from cancer is miraculous.
