Managers' Report:Hello and good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend!
Many of the storage lots suffer from flooding when heavy rains hit Saddlebag. In the past we have filled in lots one at a time and raised them up. However, the water would then just flow to the next lot and cause issues there. This year the board wanted to take a more aggressive approach in fixing the problem. We mapped out the areas that are hardest hit during heavy rain and prioritized which areas needed to be filled. We also used a crushed tile which is more porous and allows water to filter through rather than run off to the lower areas. John finished filling and leveling the first section which includes 20 storage lots. This should greatly alleviate the problem. Obviously filling in the entire storage area in this manner is costly so we will do it in sections over the course of a few years to stay within budget.
The water statements are ready for this quarter. They have been mailed to the owners who are out of the resort. For those of you who are still here we have brought yours today.
The week before last we received reports of hydrilla growing in several areas of the lake. Hydrilla is an invasive aquatic weed brought over from asia in the 1950's. Left untreated it is able to grow from bottom to surface shore to shore choking out an entire lake. The state provides treatment for public access lakes which Saddlebag Lake does not qualify for since it has no public boat access. I have contacted Aquatic Weed Management to come out and provide us with an estimate for treatment of the affected areas. They will be out this week to inspect the lake.
Thank you and have a Great week!
