Jack Southen has been taken off chemo. The doctor has given him the summer off. He will have another CAT scan September 1st and an interview with his oncologist on September 18th. On his own initiative Jack is taking an immune boosting agent called Avemar and a mushroom derivative which also boosts the immune system. This was recommended by a naturopath doctor. Jack doesn't think he will take any more chemo. They have sent in their application for health insurance to cover them in Florida from January until mid-April. Jack and Betty are looking forward to seeing old friends and hearing Pastor Tom's sermons. Thanks to all who sent Jack get well cards. They are truly appreciated.
Jim Harlan fell and broke his leg while visiting friends up north. Cards sent to the local address in the directory will be forwarded to him.
George and Margie Lee's daughter Donna is doing better. She has her “ups and downs" but is able to sit out on the porch in a wheel chair. Donna even decided to clean a closet.
Don Self is still in the hospital following the serious back surgery in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 9th. His pain medication hasn't been regulated yet. There will be a long recuperation period and the fusion of the spinal disks can take up to three months. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.
Roland Morgan went to a lung doctor last Wednesday to determine if his lungs were strong enough to have his back surgery. He did very well and surgery is scheduled for Thursday, August 17th. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory. Roland and Joann want to thank Saddlebaggers for the many cards he has received.
