SADDLEBAG SUNSHINE REPORT
August 21, 2006
Ambrose McDonald passed away last week, just four months after his wife Ruth died. They lived at 61 Beaver-Kill for years. Cards may be sent to 10114 Wynn Rd., Holland Patent, NY 13354.
George “Bill" Smith passed away this past week. He was having open heart surgery and did not recover. Cards may be sent to Mary Lee at the northern address in the directory.
Bill Conway passed away Saturday, August 19th. Cards may be sent to Madeline at the northern address in the directory.
Pat Lohman's mother, Lucille Adcock, passed away last Monday. She was 106 years old. Cards may be sent to Pat at the northern address in the directory.
Sickness and/or Distress:
Joan Holloway is home from the Dove. She was allergic to the steroids she was getting for her back pain resulting in her immune system being shut down. Joan has a severe infection in her leg resulting from scratches from the puppy she had. She is being treated with mega doses of antibiotics. A visiting nurse is coming to see doctor today, and Joan is to call for an appointment with her doctor. Cards may be sent to the local address in the directory.
Berta Stebbins is home from the hospital now and doing OK. Cards may be sent to the local address in the directory.
Don Self is home from the hospital following the serious back surgery in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 9th. He is getting around a bit, but there will be a long recuperation period. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.
Roland Morgan had his back surgery on Thursday, August 17th. He is doing OK, but had to a transfusion as he lost a lot of blood during the surgery. Roland was to stay in the hospital until yesterday, August 20th and then go to rehab. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory. Roland and Joann want to thank Saddlebaggers for the many cards he has received.
We received an e-mail from Jane Katenkamp forwarding a note from their son Jeff. He thanks the many Saddlebaggers for the many cards and prayers and would appreciate continued prayers. He has not conquered the multiple melanoma as he had hoped and faces a long recovery.
Suzie Fuday, of Royal Coachman, will have a knee replacement tomorrow. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.
Don and Jerrolyn Self want to say a BIG Thank You to all of Saddlebag for the prayers and thoughts of Don during his recent back surgery. He is to stay in for the next two weeks. Don will be in a brace and is to do a lot of walking for the next six months. They to be here sometime next winter.

Nathalie Maggard, Resort Manager:
1.The office wants to have a phone# on file in case of emergency. They have a form that anyone can fill out. Everyone is encouraged to do so.
2.Propane station is now open.
3.We have (2) wild dogs in the resort, believed to be pit bulls, and aggressive. If you see them, do not approach. Traps have been obtained and will be positioned around the resort as reports of sighting come in.
If you are in residence, you need to call the office and make an appointment to get your Bar Codes installed for entrance to SLR.
The library is now open on Monday & Thursdays from 10-12 PM.
Marilyn Storm has the key to Grannies attic. Anyone wishing to donate should call her.
Fran Mott now has the keys to the Lending Locker.
Sue Beagle reminded everyone that the deadline for getting information to her for the next Saddlebag Express, is September 13th.
This Friday there will be a potluck at 5PM, with drinks at 4PM. Everyone is invited.
August 23rd at 11:30AM, the Red Hat Society will meet in the parking lot, for a trip to Perkins Restaurant for a luncheon. Call Ginny Lowell for more information. 696-9602.
Sue Boorom has signup sheets posted in the pool room for anyone interested in taking one of the many trips the travel agency has scheduled. Call her at 696-2774 for more information.
Bud and Elizabeth Wiemeier celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a trip to Alaska. They enjoyed a wonderful time. Looking forward to getting back to Saddlebag. Anniversary date is Aug. 17, 1946.
