Karen Canankamp is having physical therapy for the minor stroke she had two weeks ago. She doesn't have the use of her right arm and has difficulty with speech. Karen can speak one word in response to a question, but cannot put sentences together yet. This will, according to her doctors, come with time. Karen will resume chemo treatments for the lung cancer as soon as possible. Prayers are needed for Karen and Dave. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.
Anne Exler is in a hospital in Pennsylvania with congestive heart failure. Fluid was drained from her heart and she is feeling better. She will see her doctor this coming week. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.
Lois Detenbeck has shingles. Cards may be sent to the local address in the directory.
Mickey Sauer was released from the hospital last Tuesday, August 18th. Her gall bladder surgery was successful and she is feeling better than she has in months. Mickey thanks the many Saddlebaggers who sent cards. They were greatly appreciated.
Bob Lapsley is doing very well at home recuperating from open heart surgery. Bob also wishes to thank all the Saddlebaggers who sent cards.
Sue Beagle and Lois Lapsley are sharing black eyes. Sue tripped over one of the yellow bumpers in the parking lot and Lois fell at home and hit the corner of a wall. No serious damage to either one, just a bit of embarrassment.
Elsie and Buss Scheffer thank everyone who sent cards on the passing of Buss's sister Mickey Keanne.
Please remember our Saddlebag friends with prayers, cards and phone calls.

Wedding: Virginia Toering's daughter, Nancy Teneshof is getting married on September 4th. Henceforth, she will be known as Nancy Crumback. Congratulations and our very best wishes.
Health Dept: The Polk County Health Dept will be here on September 29th. They will be giving flu shots. At the present time, the flu shots do not include the swine flu shot. Contact Dick Dain at 696-1141 for more information.
Library: The library is open on Monday's right after Koffee Klatch.
Tab Tops: Dale Calhoun wants to remind everyone to save your tabs from your beer or soda cans as these can then be turned into the Ronald McDonald House charity. If you save them, bring them south with you.
Entrance Gate: The Office is asking everyone that has a Bar Code attached to your vehicle, to call the office. Give them your stump number and the number of the bar code. Phone 863-696-2407. New computer software has been installed and all of the numbers have to be put back into the system. You can do it now or wait until you get back, but you will not like doing it when you get back because you will have to go into the office before you will be let in. Please be patient, as I expect the office phone to be busy a lot of the time due to this notice. This is also on the website(www.saddlebaglakeresort.net), under current issues.
Pictorial Directory: The directories are now available for pickup at the Woodruff Residence, 4 Queen of Waters or call 696-1053. This was well done. It has a hard cover. $10.00 per copy.
High Speed Internet Access: We are still waiting on AT and T to install a 3G transmitter on the phone tower out front. Other than that, LWW is still operating here. You also have the option of Satellite service, (Hughes, Wild Blue and Dish Network or DirecTV which also offer high speed internet access.) At the present time, there aren't any prospects of getting DSL service here.
Stump Paint: Anyone wishing to paint their stump, contact Robert Douskey, 109 Saddlebag Trail, 863-221-1319. He has the paint, not the labor.
The ladies are playing dominoes on Wednesdays at 1PM in the annex. Everyone is welcome.
Pool: The latest word, the pool is closed until such time as repairs are completed. We are looking at 3 or 4 weeks. The contractor was at coffee this morning. He went over the scope of work to be done, had some handouts and the original blueprint, dated 1972. He believes he is still on schedule, which is about 3 more weeks to completion. The local YMCA has given Saddlebaggers a special deal to use their facilities with pool. For $30 per family or $20 per single you will be issued a special Saddlebagger card with an expiration date of 9/30. This is a very nice outdoor pool. The YMCA is located just down the street from Bok Tower.
Directories: The new SLR directories will be available next Monday. The cost is still $1.00. Contact Dot Lynch at 696-1418 to get your copy. She will also deliver if needed.
Birthday Party: Rob Kightley is having a 90th birthday party for his mother(Evelyn) this coming September. The invitation is also posted on the Announcements page on the left hand side of the home page(www.saddlebaglakeresort.net).
This newsletter is intended to inform everyone with an email address about what is happening here in SLR during the summer.
