Jim Hoffman's father passed away August 31st of cancer. Cards may be sent to the Jacksonville address in the directory.
Henry Haines passed away September 1st of a stroke. Cards may be sent to Mil and Carol at the local address in the directory.
Sickness and/or Distress:
Steve Lakotich had surgery for an aneurism several weeks ago and is just now starting to come around. Also, his wife Carroll developed an infection in the knee replacement that was done a year ago. She had a second replacement on August 29th and is now in ICU. She is undergoing tests for an infection in her body that her doctors don't know the cause of. Cards may be sent to Steve and Carroll at 1017 Murphy Drive, Joliet, IL 60435.
Don Self is doing very well following his back surgery and is walking every day as his doctor prescribed.
Roland Morgan is back in the hospital in Jonesboro, AR to help him get back on his feet. He was unable to stay at the rehab. The doctor has changed all his medications and they have been able to get him on his feet twice. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.
Bob Howell had a CAT scan last Wednesday and will see his doctor next week to see if the chemo is working. His leg is acting up again and he has to undergo several tests to check it out. Bob and Emagene say Hi to all their Saddlebag friends.
Jeff Katenkamp was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday with pneumonia and dehydration. The doctor told Jeff and Beth that the myeloma has returned. Jeff will start another round of chemo. Prayers are requested for Jeff and the family.
Berta Stebbins wishes to thank Saddlebaggers for the many phone calls and cards received following her knee surgery and subsequent stay in rehab.
Mary Lee Smith appreciates all the cards she received following the death of her husband Bill.
Madeline Conway is overwhelmed by all the cards she received following Bill's death. She says “Thanks" to all, and “keep those cards coming". J

If you are in residence, you need to call the office and make an appointment to get your Bar Codes installed for entrance to SLR.
The library is now open on Monday & Thursdays from 10-12 PM.
Marilyn Storm, 29 Blue Quill, writes that Granny's Attic is now open on Tuesdays from 12 noon to 2PM. The closet is next to the lending locker.
Fran Mott now has the keys to the Lending Locker.
Sue Beagle reminded everyone that the deadline for getting information to her for the next Saddlebag Express is September 13th.
This Friday there will be a potluck at 5PM, with drinks at 4PM. Everyone is invited.
Sue Boorom has signup sheets posted in the poolroom for anyone interested in taking one of the many trips the travel agency has scheduled. Call her at 696-2774 for more information.
September 4th, the Summer Committee is having a Labor Day Celebration Dinner in the Clubhouse. Art and Shirley are hosting this dinner. Happy Hour is 4 PM with dinner at 5PM.
Ed Weirauch talked about Code Enforcement. What one needs to know and do before doing any construction. If you have any doubts, contact the office. This code enforcement is being done by Polk County in light of some of the unscrupulous people who took advantage of people after the hurricanes of 2004. The county has added 12 new code endorcement officers.
The Clubhouse will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to refinish the floor.
Marlene Kopp said the Garden Club will be working in the Memorial Gardens tomorrow from 7-9Am. This hopefully will avoid the heat of the day.
September 14 at 7PM, there will be a CHUG Business Meeting. Everyone is invited.
