Deaths: Fred Windisch passed away peacefully Sunday September 11, 2011 with his family around him. He had “chronic fatigue syndrome" for about a year and a half, but a week ago he had a stroke, a heart attack and pneumonia. Cards may be sent to Mary at the northern address in the directory.
Illness: Pat Woodruff came home from the hospital last Thursday. The doctors told Pat he had a broken vertebrae in his back. There was no surgery, but he was in bed for eight days. His doctor said the break should heal itself. He will be wearing a brace for at least a few weeks and will see his doctor in one month for a check-up. Pat wants to thank all for the prayers, cards and letters he received.
Doris Berle is still in the Groves Nursing Home. She was not able to come home this past week as hoped since she has developed an infection. Cards may be sent to the local address in the directory.
Kay Matthews had hip surgery last week. She went into the hospital Tuesday and was home Friday. Kay is doing very well. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.
Thelma Rhem is now in an Assisted Living facility. Cards may be sent to her at Bickford at Battle Creek, 3432 Capital Ave. SW. Battle Creek, MI 49015. Her cell number is (863) 632-0151 and the number at the facility is (269) 979-8600.
Marion Seile was taken by ambulance to Lake Wales Medical Center with severe abdominal pain.
Thank You: Rita Ashley thanks all her Saddlebag friends who remembered her following her cataract surgery.
Corrine Mark thanks all her Saddlebag friends for the visits, phone calls, food and for walking Winston for her as she recuperated from her surgery. She also thanks all for the many birthday cards she received.

Our water level this morning is 101 feet 11.25 inches. Last Week our water level was 101 feet 8.75 inches.
Saddlebag Express: The deadline to get information to Sue Beagle for the October Saddlebag Express is today. Its amazing to me how fast the summer has gone and we are getting ready for the winter season. The following organizations have not submitted an article for the Express. You need to do so today to get it published in the October Express. (Horseshoes, Red Hats, Bingo, Lending Locker, Painting, Kitchen Band, Shuffleboard and Potluck). You can submit your article to Sue at sue@SLRmail.com.
Hi-Speed Internet: We are still waiting for the splicers to make the connections. The new pricing structure is on the website under saddlebag internet.
Polk County Public Shelters: There is an informational packet and signup sheets for the Polk County public shelters at the office. If you need or want to use one of these shelters in the event of a storm, you need to fill out one of the applications, NOW and not just before a storm.
Post Office: Summer hours, 9:30 -- 10:30 AM
Cert Meeting: No Cert meeting next Monday.
SLR Church: Sandy Stinespring said that Wednesday at 6PM, our church will be holding a Potluck dinner. Bring a dish to pass and your eating utensils. Everyone is invited.
Flu Shots: According to Dick Dain, there will be no flu shots offered this year at the Clubhouse. These shots are available at a number of local commercial outlets and the County Health Dept.
Clubhouse: Next Monday after KK, the Clubhouse will be closed for the week, as it is scheduled for the floor to be stripped and rewaxed. This is an annual chore.
Library: The library is closed until further notice. You can still get the DVD's from 51 Queen of Waters during the hours of 10AM and 12 PM.
Name Tag: Please wear it if you have one.
Grannies Attic: Open Mondays, Ginny Lowell and Cheryl Thompson are the contact persons.
Emergencies: Call 911. Also, call 863-604-4321. This number gets you to our security personnel. This is a cell phone number. The number is also prominently displayed on the front cover of the directory.
