Managers' Report:Good Morning, I hope you have all had a great Weekend.
Last week I called Advance Disposal regarding the hurricane debris pickup. I knew the yard waste truck had been in the resort yet little progress had been made on the cleanup. The reason given was that they had been informed by the county that FEMA will be taking over pickup of hurricane debris in Polk county.
I then contacted the county to obtain a schedule of when Saddlebag lake would be picked up. There is no current schedule, and debris is being picked up as they get to it.
After looking into the matter further I've discovered FEMA currently has no plans to pick up debris from privately owned streets, which affects SLR. FEMA is currently doing a study for private entities to decide if they will expand pickup to them.
Today I will be reaching out to Advance Disposal to attempt to get them to resume hurricane debris pickup for our resort, since FEMA currently does not place this week for debris removal. Also keep in mind when making debris piles for pick up, the same yard waste guidelines apply. Do not push debris into the greenways.
As for the common grounds, Maintenance is still clearing the greenways. Many downed trees and a lot of debris have been removed but the cleanup is far from done.
As you are aware, Puerto Rico has been devastated by Hurricane Maria. We have been gathering donations at the front office to be sent to Puerto Rico. Today will be the last day we will be collecting donations. Thanks to all who have donated.
Thank you, and have a great week!
