SLR Koffee Klatch
October 3, 2005
Coffee: Ginny Lowell and Jim & Joan Hannon
MC: Bev Clark & Chuck Seely
Norma Ephgraves, a former Ginger Quill resident, passed away last week in Canada.
Jim Nichols of 8 Woodruff Way passed away this past week.
Sickness & Distress: Doris Berle was in Winter Haven Hospital having been admitted for discomfort following a stress test she had. Tests showed her heart is fine, but long term use of flosomax has resulted in partial deterioration of her esophagus. She is to stay off flosomax until further notice. Tests also showed a slight blockage of the aortic valve. It is possible she will need to have an angiogram.
Madeline will have overnight surgery Wednesday to clean out some of the stenosis in her spine, and take care of the "little discs". Madeline is confident she will be ready to ride her broom by Halloween. She said it's gassed up and ready to go.
Bill Conway is not doing too well. Cards may be sent to Madeline and Bill at the northern address in the directory.
It was that rumored that Wilma Cale had a stroke. She did not have a stoke, but had a problem with numbness in her right leg. She is in a nursing up north at this time. Cards may be sent to Wilma at the northern address in the directory in the directory.
Dannie and Betty Adkins are both doing very well. Dannie has responded favorably from his chemo and radiation treatments. Cards may be sent to the northern address in the directory.
Jeff Katenkamp received the bone marrow transplant and seems to be doing fine.
Please remember our Saddlebag friends with prayers, cards, and phone calls.
Lois Lapsley: Saddlebag Sunshine Gal 696-1111
And now for the Good News:
Birthdays: Nemo Krass & Thelma Boss
Anniversaries: Jim & Bobbi Hoyt 20yrs tomorrow
Many people, which is a big mistake. If, too many people return before the water is down to normal levels, the county could come in and evacuate the resort because our sewer system cannot handle the influx of waste water being generated.
Guests: 3 local firefighters
New Owners: N/A
Water level this morning is 107' 7"deep, up from last Monday
This computes to 10" deep on Saddlebag Trail from the gate to the Clubhouse.
Please go to http://www.saddlebaglakeresort.piczo.com/ for a better explanation ofthe water levels. Also, click on all the categories, and read, as there is some very pertinent information. Please no sightseeing in the resort, as this creates a problem, until the water goes down. Access to Queen of Waters, Red Quill, Beaverkill, and Royal Coachman is by canoe only. Speed limit is 1 mph on the trail.
We currently have a fresh water shutdown because of a lift station generator failure. By the time you read this, we should be back up and running again.
SLR Happy Hour is being held each Friday at 5PM in the Clubhouse. Bring a dish to pass and the beverage of your choice. For more info, contact Sharon Hancox at 605-3053). See you there.
EMERGENCY: Water restrictions are now in place. Please conserve.
We are having meetings every Monday at 10AM in the clubhouse to keep everyone informed as to what is happening here in the resort, immediately after Koffee Klatch.
As of now, there will be no service trucks allowed into SLR unless it is an emergency.
The total collection for the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund is $2495.00. Bev Clark read a nice letter from the Salvation Army this morning, thanking us for our participation and explaining just how the money will be used.
The road is operational and manned by volunteers. The hours are 8-12 and 1-5PM. George Lowell, who is in charge of this, is instituting some extended hours on Wednesday when the gate will be open until 7PM. He is still in need of more volunteers. Contact him at 696-9593 if you would like to help.
For those of you up north, when you left SLR, you filled out a mail forwarding card. These cards have an expiration date on them, and some of you are beyond the expiration date. You need to get to your local Post Office and tell them that you are still where you are. Mail is being delivered to SLR, that should be delivered to where you are located.
Until next week, Best Wishes, and God Bless. Anyone having any comments, observations, or email address changes, please contact Bob Trombley at email@example.com, or Russ Sauer at firstname.lastname@example.org,.
