SADDLEBAG SUNSHINE REPORT
April 14, 2014
John Storch passed away last Monday, April 7th. Cards may be sent to Susan at the northern address in the directory.
Jan Canankamp twisted her ankle coming down the stairs at home and broke a bone in her foot. Her shoulder however, is coming along fine. She has good range of motion with the therapy she is receiving. Cards may be sent to the local address in the directory.
Theresa Kozlusky received good news from her doctor. At present the cancer is in remission. She will be taking a lower dose of chemo -- the side effects are not as severe. Her oncologist was very positive and thinks Theresa will have many years left. Ray will see a vascular specialist on April 22nd to set up a program for the repair of an aneurysm. Theresa thanks all for the many prayers, cards and support while she is undergoing treatment.
I spoke with Tomi Blackburn Saturday morning. She is feeling much better. Tomi was amazed at receiving so many get well cards and personal messages of encouragement. She saves all the cards and when she's feeling “down" grabs a handful and rereads them. Tomi said that the love and support from Saddlebag friends coming her way seem to tell her “Tomi, you can do this". Her chemo treatments are now at the halfway mark. Cards may still be sent to her at the local address in the directory.
Betty Myles had her back surgery last Friday. The surgery went well and doctor said he was able to relieve a lot of the compression. Betty will be in the hospital for about five days and then back to Grace for rehab. Cards sent to the local address will reach her.
Leo Michlig has been diagnosed with cancer within the abdomen. This is new and not associated with an earlier cancer. He is being treated with a “cancer pill". Their sons are flying in from Wisconsin to take them home. Cards may be sent to the local address over the next few days, then to the northern address in the directory.
We received a lovely thank you note from Jim Hannon for all the cards, calls, visits and prayers he received following his heart surgery. He said the doctors were so good and he had very special care from his family and friends that meant so much during his recuperation. Jim said that Saddlebag is truly his home.
Char and Dave Gwinn thank all their friends for the cards, thoughts, prayers, flowers and food as Dave recuperates from a stroke. Brew, their dog, appreciated all the TLC too. How lucky to feel so much love.
